During Your Gas Leak Test

Tried and true signs of most combustible gas leaks is a mix of a sulfur and rotten egg smell. However, some leaks are too small to be detectable by odor and require special equipment in order to be found. Due to the fact that many piping systems leak, it is extremely important to know how much gas is escaping and control it before it becomes dangerous.

The Gas Leak Test

Using a handheld combustible gas leak detector called a “gas sniffer” (or “tick sensor”), our inspectors will check all the connection points in any hard metal piping, flexible supply lines, and gas control valves of every gas appliances in the home-this includes the following components:

  • Furnaces

  • Water Heaters

  • Clothes Dryers

  • Fireplaces

  • Stove Tops

  • Exterior Gas Meters

Our inspector is able to use the information taken by the sensor to identify gas leaks and their concentrations, as well as the general area of the potential leak.
